I haven’t painted anything new for 6 months. I don’t know why.
Maybe I’ve been too happy or comfortable or complacent. Not too complacent to vote in the UK EU Referendum, thank God, but too blind to have properly considered that #Remain might not make it over that 50% line first.
In the days after the vote on 23rd June, I felt a strong urge to paint. So between 24th and 29th June I did. It’s quite a big painting (90cm x 90cm) with a lot of empty space and blue and yellow. It’s a bit sketchy, but that’s how I feel right now, less solid than I felt before. Also, I wanted to publish it within a week of the vote in a kind of ‘unfinished’ state because that’s how things are, aren’t they?
After #Brexit (Acrylic on canvas, 90x90cm)
I’ll be super-happy if you share my work. Please use short quotes from the piece if you like and do share the images, but always always link back here.
For any other use, please ask me first.
Photographed with an iPhone the colours can be compromised and small amounts of cropping can occur. The real paintings speak more clearly.
Share art, share <3.
